CHD welcomes both short and long-term volunteers who have a real desire to make a difference in the lives of others and feel good about what they have to give. Volunteers can teach English, support environmental education, or assist other projects. Feel free to discuss your ideas and skills with us, so we can accommodate you and your plans. This is an opportunity for you to have a truly rewarding experience during your Cambodian adventure. You can really invest yourself and your time in the service of teaching and supporting the children of CHD by making this the main reason for your trip and being supported by the CHD community.

It is important to remember you are here to help with our vision. You may make suggestions but it is not your role to force modern methodology and structure. It is important to note that things move at a slower rate in Cambodia, including change. Advice and help are much appreciated and desired, but it is essential to understand that the school has always been owned and operated by Cambodians, and that is important to us.

We ask our intending Volunteers fill out our application and pay an application fee of $50 USD. This application fee covers all our administration and travel costs in arranging your accommodation at the guest house in Takeo, orientation to Takeo and Po Village, and travel by our Children with Hope for Development representative from Takeo to Phnom Penh to meet our volunteers and travel with you safely to Takeo.

To volunteer at CHD you should be:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Motivated to make a difference
  • Interested in learning about Cambodia
  • Interested in teaching in developing environments
  • Enjoy interacting with and teaching children
  • Able to easily adapt to new cultures and teaching styles

Volunteers are required to supply:

  • A copy of their passport
  • A drivers license
  • A police check from their country of origin
  • A completed Volunteer Application (see Forms below)
  • A completed Child Protection Policy (see Forms below)

CHD is unable to provide insurance cover for volunteers as it uses all of it’s funding on educational programs to benefit children. We recommend that all volunteers arrange their own comprehensive health and accident insurance for the duration of their stay in Cambodia.
